The seventies were an incredible period in music history.
Bell-bottom pants, chains, and afros dominated the fashion and music scene. Sound effects were at their peak too.
The phaser was everywhere on the radio. From the guitars of David Gilmour, Brian May, and Eddie Van Halen, to the keyboards of Steely Dans, Herbie Hancocks, Richard Tees and Paul Simons, it seemed everyone incorporated phasing effects into their sound.
Among all the effects being played during that era, one phaser pedal stood out from the rest because of its versatility, sound quality, and addition of fuzz sounds.
It was immediately adopted by funk bass pioneer Larry Graham as the cornerstone of his tweaked sound with Sly and The Family Stone and his own Graham Central Station.

The Jet Effect!
The Jet Phaser features six modes: two labeled PHASE and four labeled JET. The two PHASE modes produce traditional phasing effects, with the first having moderate modulation depth for subtle tones and the second having increased depth for more dramatic results.
However, the similarities with standard phase pedals end there. The four JET modes involve the jet (or fuzz) effect and thats where things get serious and fun!
There are four fuzz/phase combinations:
- Bright fuzz / shallow phase
- Bright fuzz / deep phase
- Dark fuzz / shallow phase
- Dark fuzz / deep phase
When JET modes are active, the pedals output level is controlled by the JET LEVEL knob. This allows you to set the JET modes as a boost if you want to — something that could be ideal for solos!
Creative Control
The Jet Phaser also features a RESONANCE control available on all six modes, allowing you to wet your instruments signal as much as you like.
Additionally, you get creative control of the modulation rate: the SLOW RATE switch lets you set the main modulation speed, but pressing the FAST/SLOW footswitch always speeds up the rate to maximum possible speed.
The Jet Phasers true bypass function makes it easy to integrate into any live stage setup, and operating at 18V gives it high signal quality and clean sound (can be powered by the included 18VDC adapter or two 9V batteries).
We already know it sounds amazing on guitar, bass, and keys, but you can also use it on vocals or even drums — use your imagination!
