Description

Subwoofer with 7.1 Bass Management

The KH 870 features a bypassable 7.1 High Definition Bass Manager with remote volume control, four routing functions, fourth-order crossover and adjustable acoustic controls. From Mono to 3D, there are uses for the KH 870 in many different system configurations.

Key Features:
  • 7.1 High Definition Bass Management (Remote controlled)
  • Ultra-deep bass response (18 Hz)
  • High maximum SPL (116.7 dB, 400 W)

IMPROVING LATERAL CONSISTENCY
The latest amplifier technology and acoustic components have been used to ensure the most accurate possible sound reproduction. The drivers, cabinet and carefully designed bass reflex ports guarantee tight, distinct and distortion-free reproduction of low frequencies, even at high playback levels. Using the sum output, the Plane Wave Bass Array™ (PWBA™) techniques improve acoustic lateral consistency in the listening area. Bass extends down to 18 Hz.

FLEXIBLE PLACEMENT OPTIONS
The KH 870 subwoofer has been designed to complement Neumanns extensive monitor range and can be used standalone or daisy-chained to create larger systems capable of higher SPL. The KH 870 can be used in music studios, broadcast and post-production studios for tracking, mixing and mastering. The cabinet can be placed next to a wall or flush-mounted to a wall due to its front bass reflex port and can be used in multi-channel systems with other Neumann KH series speakers.

APPLICATIONS
  • Bass extension for speakers down to 18 Hz
  • Increase maximum speaker SPL by up to 8 dB
  • Reduction of harmonic and intermodulation distortion from speakers
  • LFE channel reproduction
  • Sub signal reproduction from a bass-managed multi-channel source
  • Creation of a Plane Wave Bass Array™ system
  • Works as an extension for KH line subwoofer systems

(1) Cabinet design mechanically modeled using Low Resonance Integral Molding™ (LRIM™) materials
  • Wooden cabinet with hard painted finish and high-density rubber insulation
  • Excellent self-damping properties leading to minimal cabinet resonances
  • No standing wave resonances inside
  • Reduced cabinet resonances

(2) Internally modeled composite sandwich cone bass driver with exceptionally linear force factor (ELFF™), magnetic shielding, optimized die-cast basket and durable integrated grille
  • Damping of breaking functions brings low distortion at high sound levels
  • Linear pistonic motor providing low harmonic distortion even at high transients
  • Reduced air noise and improved reciprocating modes
  • Grille protection against mechanical damage

(3) Large bass reflex ports with optimized high-capacity flow
  • Fast bass transient response
  • Reduced bass compression at high output levels
  • Can be flush-mounted

(4) Electronically balanced XLR analog inputs and outputs
  • Standard interface with professional equipment
  • Daisy chain output for subwoofer arrays

7.1 High Definition Bass Management
  • Compatible with all systems from mono to 3D
  • Bypassable active 4th-order crossover at 80 Hz for maximum compatibility with consumer playback systems
  • Allows main speakers to play louder and with less distortion
