Dynavox TC-5B Phono Preamplifier

The TC-5B is the brand new phono preamplifier for MM systems from Dynavox.

It is used when a turntable is to be operated on an amplifier without a phono input or when an amplifier’s internal phono connection does not meet the sonic requirements.

In phono preamplifiers, the extremely small signal of the turntable is amplified and equalized and thus prepared for connection to an amplifier. These signals are very sensitive to interference signals of all kinds, which can manifest themselves in the form of annoying noise or hum.

In the TC-5B, therefore, in addition to the sonic characteristics, great importance was attached to minimizing these disturbances.

In addition to the well-shielded and high-quality metal housing with a solid 4 mm front and back made of aluminum, the TC-5B has an external power supply for minimizing interference.

In addition, however, the TC-5B comes up with a top feature that is unusual in its price range, as it is also given the option of switching from power supply via power supply to power supply via battery operation (9V block). Depending on the turntable or setup of the system, this can make a very big difference in sound.

A standard alkaline 9V block (not included) is enough for about 40 hours of music enjoyment.
