Description
Unforgiving Vintage
The Warm Audio Centavo is a meticulous recreation of one of the most coveted overdrive pedals in guitar history. Renowned for its signature boost and distorted tones, the hunger for this highly popular pedal continues to this day, long after original production ended from 1994 to 2009. With prices skyrocketing for a three-knob pedal, its no wonder that guitarists like Jeff Beck, Joe Perry, John Mayer, and Josh Homme found the mythical magic of the original pedals worth the fame. The Warm Audio Centavo is a faithful overdrive pedal to the original that authentically recreates the legendary experience and beloved tones of the original, mythical pedal.
Legacy at Your Feet
Whether youre chasing legendary boost tones, edge-of-breakup distortion, or want to push your rhythm channel into real grit – the Centavo has all the beloved tones of the original pedal. The Centavo functions smoothly as a boost pedal, while saturation at higher gain settings offers a platform for truly transparent and clean distorted rhythm tones. The addition of the MOD switch on the back – something Jeff Beck had requested from the original pedals – gives musicians the ability to extend bass response, affecting the lower strings for additional low harmonics.
Pedal Controls and Settings
The Centavo features three basic controls on top – Gain, Treble & Output. The gain on the Centavo breaks fairly toward the end, with edge of breakup starting after 50% and real clipping achieved gradually in the gain stage. The treble control is useful for adding some presence to muddier guitars, such as dual humbucker models or 100% mahogany instruments. The Centavo is equipped with output and can easily deliver a clean boost or create natural distortion if the tubes in the amplifier are already pushed. Pressing the MOD switch from the back is a good tool to have at your disposal if the overdrive initially sounds tight in the lows.
